Description:

In this Catching Academy, we will build the COMPLETE CATCHER.

We will focus on receiving techniques, blocking, transfers with footwork, throwing patterns, arm care, and mobility (See Below).

Our goal is to continue to teach and refine our skills and get specific work done on a weekly basis. We will utilize video for technique analysis.

Stances:

• Signal Giving
• Primary (Traditional) and Primary (Left Knee Down/Right Knee Down)
• Secondary

Receiving:

• Proper place to receive the ball in the glove and glove placement
• Methods of Receiving (w/Relaxation Techniques)
  • Quarter Turn/Flexion to Extension/Extension to Flexion
• Set Up and Body Movement

Blocking:

• Mindset 
• Movement Patterns (Attacking the Ball)
• Dry Work - Middle - Side to Side
• Live Standard Blocking (Glove Side/Middle/Arm Side)
• One Knee Down Blocking

Footwork:

• Patterns to 2B 
• Patterns to 3B

Exchanges (Transfers):

• Glove Rip/Pinkie to Center of Body

Throwing:

• Build on the Footwork and Exchange work to begin to build a proper arm action (create time and space).
• Throwing Fundamentals (Catcher Specific AA)
• Arm Care
• Throwing Progressions
• Using Footwork and Throwing

Bunt Plays:

• Footwork
• Angles
• Glove and Hand Relationship 

Daily Progressions:

• What it takes to get better DAILY!
